Naremburn
Naremburn is currently one of the most popular suburbs for homebuyers on the lower north shore. A leafy and family-friendly suburb with lots of character houses, it is also one of the smallest suburbs making up the Willoughby City Council. Small grants of land have been settled in the area since 1853. The area was originally a battlers' district with early businesses including piggeries, slaughter houses, plasterworks and dairies. The main road through Naremburn crossed Flat Rock Creek to reach the Milsons ferry terminus. A bridge was erected in 1868 but was destroyed by flood. A new bridge was built in 1886. This bridge is still in use as part of Willoughby Road. Naremburn has evolved and been restored but buildings remain on Central and Slade streets retaining their original shopfronts.
Some of Naremburn's best eateries include the international cafe, Cream Gourmet Deli, Montien Thai Restaurant for an Asian experience and Naremburn Pizzeria for a casual meal with friends. Nearby Crows Nest offers a wide variety of cuisine featuring cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs.
